Biography

Councilman-at-Large Adrian Austin is a lifelong resident of Pontiac, Michigan, committed to serving his community with integrity, transparency, and innovative solutions. He and his wife, Melanie, are proud to raise their daughters, Shaniya and Alaura, in Fieldstone Village, located in Pontiac's District 4. Councilman Austin and his family are faithful members of Door of Faith Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Earl O. Crump, also in Pontiac, Michigan.

Professionally, Councilman Austin has distinguished himself as a two-term UAW Chairperson representing employees of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. In this role, he fought for workers' rights, health and safety protections, and job security, earning the trust and confidence of union members. As a UAW Bargaining Representative, he played a pivotal role in negotiating the 2023–2027 Master Labor Agreement, which delivered record-breaking gains for the membership.

Politically, Councilman Austin has served as a two-term Democratic Precinct Delegate in District 5 Precinct 11 and as a two-term UAW VCAP (Citizenship & Legislative) Chairman. In these roles, he advanced grassroots political action and workplace advocacy. He also served on staff with UAW International and UAW Region 1 CAP Department during the 2024 Presidential Election, campaigning for Democratic candidates at the local, state, and national levels.

Councilman Austin is a graduate of Pontiac Northern High School, Class of 2003. His educational background includes studies in Legal Studies at Baker College and Labor Studies at Wayne State University. He holds advanced certifications in Six Sigma (Black Belt and Green Belt) and Project Management from Lawrence Technological University. His training is further complemented by numerous union leadership, grievance handling, and negotiation courses through UAW International and Region 1.

Beyond his professional and political service, Councilman Austin is a founder of Operation Pontiac Pride, a community organization established to empower residents with resources and knowledge to restore cultural, personal, spiritual, and community values in Pontiac.

Today, as Councilman-at-Large, Adrian Austin continues to honor his lifelong commitment to Pontiac by leading with vision, accountability, and dedication to the citizens he proudly represents.

Councilperson-at-Large Austin was elected to represent the entire city in November 2025 to a four-year term expiring on January 1, 2030.
